Housing inventory is down! The April 2020 Big Sky MLS report for single family homes in Bozeman City Limits reflects a decrease of 10.8
% in inventory compared to April 2019.
The average length of time a homeowner stays in their residence typically averages 6 years, but recently that number has increased between nine and ten years since 2011. Many homeowners are itching to move, as they haven’t been able to sell the last few years due to negative equity. As home values continue to appreciate, more homeowners are faced with the freedom to sell and move.
Some homeowners have been reluctant to list their home the last couple of years for fear they wouldn’t find another residence to move into. This is all changing as more homes come to the market at a higher price point. As time elapses, more inventory will come on the market and buyers will have more options.
