MSU Community Cat Walk 2026: Join Downtown Bozeman for the 14th Annual Bobcat Tradition

If there's one thing that brings the Bozeman community together every fall, it's Bobcat pride. As the excitement builds for another Montana State University football season, one of my favorite community traditions is returning to Downtown Bozeman.

The 14th Annual MSU Community Cat Walk takes place on Friday, August 21, 2026, bringing students, athletes, the Spirit of the West Marching Band, local businesses, and Bobcat fans together for a fun afternoon celebrating everything that makes Montana State University such an important part of our community.

As a local Realtor, I always enjoy sharing events like this because they perfectly showcase the energy, school spirit, and sense of community that make Bozeman such an incredible place to call home.

What is the MSU Community Cat Walk?

Hosted by Montana State University and the Downtown Bozeman Association, the Community Cat Walk is designed to kick off the school year while strengthening the connection between the university and the local community.

The event features:

• MSU President Brock Tessman
• Champ, the Bobcat mascot
• The Spirit of the West Marching Band
• Montana State student-athletes
• MSU students
• Community members
• Downtown Bozeman businesses

Throughout the walk, participants visit local businesses while the marching band fills Main Street with Bobcat spirit. Fans can enjoy live music, meet student-athletes, collect Bobcat giveaways, and celebrate the start of another exciting athletic season.

Meet Your Favorite Bobcats

One of the biggest highlights of the event is the opportunity to meet Montana State football and volleyball players.

Families, students, and fans can:

• Meet current student-athletes
• Collect player autographs
• Take photos
• Pick up game schedules
• Receive Bobcat gear
• Grab treats for the kids

For many young Bobcat fans, this becomes one of the most memorable events leading into football season.

The Community Cat Walk Route

The festivities begin at 11:00 AM outside First Interstate Bank at the corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue.

From there, participants will:

• Walk east along the south side of Main Street
• Visit Downtown Bozeman businesses
• Stop at Soroptimist Park near Main Street and Rouse Avenue for approximately 20 minutes
• Enjoy refreshments
• Meet student-athletes and collect autographs
• Return west along the north side of Main Street
• Finish at The Baxter around 1:00 PM

The route gives everyone plenty of opportunities to join in, wave to the marching band, and experience the excitement throughout Downtown Bozeman.
