Explore Ennis Real Estate
Stretching out in to the vast Montana landscape, real estate in Ennis encompasses a more rural way life—an escape from the hustle and bustle of larger cities in the area. The market itself is primarily made up of single-family homes and properties, as well as vacant lots and farmland. As a result of this, most of the buyers are families and ranchers, although there are a wealth of development opportunities for builders/investors.
Ennis as a town is relatively small, with a population of around a thousand people. This part of Ennis is primarily single-family detached homes, with a number of new subdivisions and neighborhoods popping up. New construction homes in the downtown area are within walking distance to a number of amenities, including shops and schools. To the south, along the highway, homes for sale here offer residents scenic views and privacy, all within a welcoming community. Pronghorn Meadows, a newer, planned development in Ennis with about 45 single-family homes, is desirable for its tight-knit community and amenities. Beyond the luxury homes for sale, Pronghorn Meadows also has an equestrian facility and clubhouse for resident use.
Outside of the town, there are vast fields and farmland, and this is where the large farms and ranchers are found. Here, properties for sale come with significant acreage, at a more affordable price point than, for example, Bozeman. Lots often have several buildings on the property, sometimes including barns or guest/coach houses. Additionally, much of the real estate on the Ennis market comes equipped with desirable amenities, such as RV hookups and storage, horse paddocks and secondary buildings, and more. Some of the most luxurious properties are situated on the river.
Horse Properties in Ennis
While the new construction single-family homes in Ennis offer more of that small-town atmosphere, there are some properties on the market that are suitable for horse ownership. Horse properties and ranches for sale in Ennis are listed with the required zoning (or no zoning, in some cases), as well as buildings in equipment. These properties can be for rental purposes or as full-time, permanent residences, depending on the listing and the buyer's preference.
Community and Lifestyle in Ennis
Like many of the other semi-rural communities in the area, Ennis is recognized for its small-town charm, and features a number of hotels and lodges for those travelling in the area—particularly to Yellowstone National Park. Ennis is located right on Highway 287, which connects to the Three Forks and Helena area in the north, right between two mountain ranges.
Downtown Ennis, along Main Street, has a selection of local businesses and restaurants, and features views of the mountains in the distance. Matching the exterior buildings, the restaurants in Ennis are typically saloon or tavern-style establishments, while the stores include tackle and bait, sporting goods, and gift shops. Ennis also provides the necessities, such as a gas station, a bank, grocery stores and convenience stores, and even a movie theater. Additionally, Ennis has a small park with a gazebo in the center of town.
Residents of Ennis love the great outdoors, and the surrounding parks and green areas provide ample opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, and more. Ennis Lions Club Park is found right on the Madison River, with Ennis State Park on the opposite side. Madison Meadows Golf Course is just northwest of the town. Other area highlights include Kobayashi Beach on Ennis Lake, Big Sky Ski Resort, and Yellowstone National Park.
