Climb to Fairy Lake by Nick Brassard

Fairy Lake Campground to Sacajawea Peak trail is one of the local favorites for scenic views close to home that offers a variety of topography and wildlife. This 4.5-mile round trip hike starts off at the Fairy Lake Campground which boasts large pines, blue water, and immense views.

Stay the night or make it a day trip and hike up to the tallest peak in the Bridger Mountain range sitting just under 10,000 feet in elevation. You can expect to cross babbling brooks and scramble your way through the lower forest, up the rocky basin into the saddle between Pomp Peak and Sacagawea Peak. One final push up the mountain and you will find yourself in the presence of some of the most spectacular views in every direction.

Keep your eyes out for Mountain Goats! These majestic beasts are truly kings of the mountains with their ability to climb even the steepest rock faces with ease. Along with deer, bear, and elk, this is one of the best trips to get outside and immerse yourself in nature while still remaining close to home. Just remember to pack bear spray and always keep your distance from wild animals.
