What is a Home Inspection?

A home inspection is a visual examination of the physical structures and systems of a house from top to bottom. 

It includes a report done by a professional evaluating the conditions of different aspects of the home such as:

  • Roof structures like flashings, chimneys, gutters, and vents
  • Plumbing aspects such as water supplies, waste lines, water heaters, & fuel supplies
  • Interior walls, ceilings, floors, smoke detectors, stairs, railings, foundation, & framing
  • Kitchen appliances, cabinets, and counters
  • Bathroom fixtures such as tub flow/drainage, sinks, toilets, and possible leaks or moisture damage
  • HVAC units and their venting, condition, & quality
  • Exteriors items like siding, trim, spigots, drainage, paved areas, decks, stairs, and fences
  • Overall condition of the home, construction, foundation, & drainage

Why do I need to hire a professional?

The purchase of your home will probably be one of the largest purchases you'll ever make. Because it is such a big decision, you should have the upmost confidence when making the decision to buy a home and rely on a completely unbiased party to do so. Just like you go to a Doctor to figure out if you are healthy, you should use a professional home inspector to find out if your home is healthy. Having a home inspection done prior to making such a large purchase can give you peace of mind for the rest of the sale and allow you to take preventative measures to avoid costly future repairs and/or negotiate further based on the inspection findings.
