The days may be getting shorter, but the list of reasons to BUY NOW is getting longer.
The falling leaves and slowing days often cause the real estate market to do the same. But here are some reasons why this slower pace could actually be good for home buyers.
1. There are fewer Buyers on the market
As the market slows, this means there are LESS BUYERS on the market competing for the same house. This makes it easier to negotiate by giving Sellers less options to chose from.
2. Sellers may be motivated by the end of the year
Closing by December 31st may be beneficial for Sellers in terms of taxes. They may be able to take advantage of tax gains or losses during the year, that might go away if they were to settle in January.
3. Fall/Winter weather may show more flaws
Rain, snow, and falling leaves may actually be a blessing for home Buyers because they allow you to see more flaws a home may have such as roof or foundation leaks, window seal gaps, insulation issues, or even exterior issues that may have been previously covered by bushy trees or shrubs.
4. Homes sitting on the market may drop in price
Many Sellers list in the spring or summer months. Meaning homes that have sat on the market since then may have dropped their price or be willing to accept lower offers.
5. Sellers may be motivated by the Holidays
As the holidays grow near, Sellers may want to close so that they can host their holiday functions in their new home, which means Buyers can do the same!
